The Discovery was designed on the lines of a Dundee whaling vessel. She was built in the city for the 1901-04 British National Antarctic Expedition. She also served the Discovery Oceanographic Expedition and the BANZAR Expedition. She also carried cargo for the Hudson Bay Company and served as a training vessel for the Sea Scouts and Royal Naval Reserve.
We hold books, archives, photographs and objects which vividly represent the history of the ship and the men who served on her. We also hold material related to the building of the ship and other polar expeditions such as the Terra Nova.
